The DEME group is located in Zwijndrecht (Antwerp).

CFE was at the origin of the creation of the dredging group. In 1974, the CFE dredging subsidiary "Société Générale de Dragage" merged with the dredging activities of the Ackermans and van Haaren group, and so created Dredging International.

Following this merger, the company grew intensely which lead to the creation of DEME (Dredging Environmental Marine Engineering), first class player in marine engineering and one of the world leaders in this domain.

The DEME group is a multidisciplinary group, active in Europe, Africa, South America, India, the Middle East, Asia and Australia. It has developed its activities in the dredging works and marine engineering sectors, offshore hydraulic activities and environmental activities including ground drainage system work and storage of polluted mud, building materials and concessions. For this, it uses a fleet of modern and diversified platforms, dredgers, specific machinery for offshore work and marine engineering.
